WHAT IS FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE?

“Functional medicine is a whole health approach that addresses root causes and restores well-being through a personalized experience.”

-The Institute for Functional Medicine

WHAT IS A CERTIFICATION IN FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE?

Functional medicine training is a rigorous, multi-year education that teaches practitioners to think deeply about:

  • The body as an interconnected system (not separate parts)

  • The physiology of chronic symptoms like fatigue, digestive issues, and metabolic dysfunction

  • Each person’s unique history, patterns, and root causes

This training supports a personalized, whole-person approach to care.

WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND AND TRAINING?

I’m a Registered Nurse with a strong academic foundation in science, public health, and functional medicine.

  • B.S. Biology, Purdue University

  • M.S. Science, Indiana University

  • Master of Public Administration, Indiana University

  • Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner (IFMCP)

My approach combines deep physiology with practical, real-life coaching—so you leave with a plan that makes sense and feels doable.

HOW CAN A NURSE HELP ME?

Nurses are trained to listen carefully, identify patterns, and translate complex health information into clear next steps. I use that training to help you understand what’s driving your symptoms and build a personalized wellness plan that fits your life.
